Nifty old combination lock ya got there! No other manufacturer markings or anything on there other than the country of origin on the shackle?

There's a marking on the bottom I first thought was a rivet. I'll try to get a picture of it. I'm looking for a magnifing glass right now.

Re: What lock is this

I've seen a few of these on eBay, very nice ol lock mate.

BTW, It's unusual to get the combination with an old lock like that, or is it open-able some other way?

I received the combination with it. But that's no fun, so I picked it first.

Re: What lock is this

Can you UL a picture of the bottom, and give the dimentions?

It's possibly made by Clark Combination Lock Co. patented Feb 29th 1876.

I agree. Looking at page 69 of "The Padlock Collector", Sixth Edition by Franklin M. Arnall, it shows what appears to be the identical lock.

It's identified as "Clark Combination Lock Co. Patd Feb 29, 1876, with size as 2.25" and a value of $425.00

I would imagine that value is subjective and based on pristine condition.

LOL! Goldmine!! That would be cool if you actually had a lock worth that much money, then you would have to make a decision, to sell or not to sell!!

It won't be a tough decision to make. I'm not a lock collector.
