http://www.thesixtyone.combasically they've taken the idea that Myspace started on, but taken the stupidity out of it. It's music, and only music.
Songs are given a 'bump' rating. If I like a song, I bump it. This costs points, which are accumulated over time, to stop me from repeatedly bump-spamming a song or any song i hear.
When a song gets enough bumps, it will reach the front page and many more people will hear it.
I love the site, I love the music, I love the concept. No media pushing me to listen to 15 artists non-stop, I can listen to tracks from thousands of artists in exactly the genre i like.

http://www.Last.FM this website builds up a profile of what music I like, so I can just log in and start listening to stuff I like, not just a random playlist.
