Day 306 of 366. Got this antique padlock in Sri Lanka without a key. Didn't try to pick it until today because I thought it was rusted shut. Looks like it still works.

Cheers :)

Day 307 of 366. Todays padlock is not shown, since it's still in use by an important institution. I'll just show you the prototype tool I made, inspired by the one Gordon made some time ago. I opened the padlock a few times, so the tool does work.

Cheers :)

That looks too strange not to ask. Can you share more about the type of lock or more information about the tool Gordon made, without giving away sensitive information?

That's just a simple way to keep some wires together. Imagine a tubular lock tool. Now imagine the pins are in line. Here comes my tool.

Cheers :)

I would like to point out, these are not half diamonds!

Anyway, did you evaluate, if your picking so far was successful? Did you have less appointments with your doctor than in the same time frame of the last years?

Don't forget to post day 308 (3rd of November) or it will be difficult to reach 366...

Day 308 of 366. You're right. I was hoping to open something more interesting, but I didn't. Here it is.

Cheers :)

I can see it in my mind. A big building. "Femurat Institute of Medicine".

Ha ha, Martin, I like the big building idea. And if someone dare to discuss my method, we'll lock him up!

Day 309 of 366. I got this old Godrej 8 levers padlock in Sri Lanka without a key. When I came back home I impressioned a key and never tried to pick it. I didn't know how to pick curtained lever locks.
Now I'm more confident and tried... OPEN!

Cheers :)

Day 310 of 366. I got this Scandinavian-like padlock in Prague.
I used the thin spring as a decoding knife along one side of the shackle and turned the discs little by little, one by one, until it passed down. It was more decoding than picking. And very satisfying when it was open!

Cheers :)

Day 311 of 366. This is the typical old English padlock, a Squire four levers. It's a good beginner lock since the levers have no false gates and the lock has no curtains.
And it also looks nice in the collection.

Cheers :)

Day 312 of 366. Today I opened the Yale padlock that Gordon sent me years ago.
And also realised that the one I opened on day 305 was a souvenir I bought in Sri Lanka. I remember it was a Yale padlock but confused which one.

Cheers :)

That classic design flaw lost some of its popularity but not its entertainment value :)

That shimming trick is the least damaging way to open it.

Day 313 of 366. I still don't understand completely this lock. The feedback is different than what I'm used to. I'll play with it again.

Cheers :)
