Those spheres fall out of the lock or fall into extra holes in the plug for this lock? The mechanism is neat indeed. I also like the hospitality mechanism where you can leave the lock in two different locked positions. In one, guest keys don't work. You have any lock like that?

TrioVing makes one that I am aware of. I think Russwin did as well.

The spheres fall in special grooves in the cylinder. It's not reversible, unless you disassemble the lock. I've done it and it worked.

I don't have those fancy locks you refer to.

I think this is the pick that I got all excited about way back when you were first starting this project back in January.

With that super skinny shank height and slightly outsized HD it's very nearly the universal pick shape but by God you'd need a very light touch to use it without bending it beyond repair. That was why I was keen to know what material you made it from, I figured with a good enough material you'd have a pick that would deal with a LOT of keyway and bitting combinations. I remember being astounded that it was in 025 or 028 stainless or something equally pedestrian.

You're too optimistic Michael. The pick is not stiff enough for most locks. And I suspect it's quite fragile, so I try not to use it, unless I have no other choice. A mass produced pick of this style may be interesting though. I won't be worried of breaking it.



Day 184 of 366. I'm happy if I manage to pick something interesting during the day. This way I'm free after dinner. Much less stressful when I'm tired and risk to fall asleep.

I almost run out of padlocks, but I still have some easy ones for bad moments. I have a small box with boring cylinders that I can open even if I'm tired and have no time to play. But obviously I try to avoid them. What stress me is the fear of forgetting to go down in my toys room (the basement) and pick a lock. It's way too easy to fall asleep on the couch if you're tired. Luckily it didn't happen yet.
