Schloss and Burg pretty much mean the same. Nice combination and perhaps not a coincidence.

Day 71 of 366. This is a rare tubular padlock with some brass and some copper-looking pins. It would be interesting to impression a key for it. The key diameter is so small it'll be difficult to find a blank. Brass pipe? The first raining day I may think about it again.

Cheers :)

Is it such a tight fit, or how do you prevent that tensioner from slipping?
Not sure if you could roll a sheet to the right size and impression it. Thought just crossed my mind and perhaps it's a bad idea.

It's a super tight and precise fit. I try a few tension tools until I find the perfect one. And if I don't have it I just file one down to size.
Usually I prefer a different shape wrench, with the bottom part that extends towards the outer side of the keyway, like the key does.
This time I happened to have such a perfect fitting wrench I didn't even need another one.

About impressioning a key, I'll figure out something when it crosses my mind again. I've done what you say with a rolled piece of brass in the past. It works but it tends to bend and it's not a nice key.

Cheers :)

Point of that key is that you can use it both sides and it aligns with the grooves?

Yes edocdab, it's a reversible key, like the old car keys. It's not a wafer lock but a standard pin tumbler. The grooves on the sides are for key control.
