Thieves shimming locks in Sweden

So, these guys apparently went around to various public locker rooms, shimmed the padlocks and stole stuff:
The article and video is in Swedish, but there's a shot of them in action and they clearly mention that they 'used shims'.

One of the Swedish guys here was actually hit by this some time ago (can't remember which one) - wonder if it was the same guys...
I was reasonably surprised when I heard from him that the locker was ransacked but the padlock undamaged.

Everytime I've shown shimming to Joe Public, everyone has been shocked to learn how easily most of the cheap padlocks they buy to protect their gym locker, toolbox, storage unit etc. are opened.

And the answer is pretty simple: Abloy. Stops all the wannabes.

Yeah - it's what he ended up buying.
They have small cheap padlocks with the Classic core that are perfect for the task.

It appears, well all except for the blurred out images that they could definitely ID the individual from video footage.
not illiterate, just tough to overcome auto-correct & type on mobile device

Yeah - they have been charged with 42 counts of theft. Most of the places didn't even have CCTV - for the obvious privacy reasons of people not wanting to be filmed naked. It just helped the investigation that they got the actual procedure on video - there's much more evidence against them.
