Real contents of a safe ??

If that were real gold not only would he not be able to pick it up, the box would be toast! I also would question how he got it open, with no visible signs of damage. I can't help but think some "warehouse guy" isn't going to have the skills to otherwise open this baby!

Like mastersmith, it'd be too heavy to hold that much gold...
I really started to get suspicious when it was mentioned that the safe was "very sturdy"..."tend to be rugged"..."old school"...
Lol! How much stuff can this thing hold? Does it have a basement?

I was some warehouse guy the first time I opened an electric, with no visible signs of damage too.

A safe came back with a free spinning handle. Bungee cord, cardboard, creativity, and it was open and repaired in a few minutes.

Jaakko you are correct. I should have read the story if I was going to comment. Frankly, until I read your post I didn't have that much interest in the story, lol. I will endeavor to be a better "poster"!
