I bought two locks from Amazon (don't judge!). The first was a Master 3. What a piece of trash. I put my hook all the way to the back without applying any torsion, and then when I pressed just slightly on my wrench, it opened. I couldn't have imagined a less satisfying first pick.

But I bought a Master 140 to go along with it, and this one took me maybe 5 minutes to SPP. So I'm counting the 140 as my very first pick. It definitely required me to pay close attention to the feedback and to learn how to apply only the necessary torsion. All in all, I'm proud of my first pick!

This is the first lock I successfully picked.

A standard 5-pin tumbler as far as I can tell. I was waiting for my Southord pick set to arrive so I fashioned a pick from a safety pin and a tension wrench from a really poor quality hacksaw blade I bought in a pound shop. I was extremely pleased with myself when I cracked it! :D I'd previously picked a cut-away lock to work out what was going on and to get a feel for the feedback. Still need loads of practice. It seems different each time I do it. I'm looking forward to a vice I ordered and a pair of different pin-tumbler locks to arrive so I can try some new ones.

My first was a 5 pin ACE doorknob handle on the study room. I think. Or it was a no name cylinder I RIPPED :fu: out of a door knob. Either way I was above the roof screaming and crying. :hbg:

My first pick. This lock has been sitting in a drawer in my garage for over a year. I believe it's a "Magnum" since that's what it says on the side of the lock and on the key. It is made in China so I'm assuming it's a copy of a Master.

I've picked it about a dozen times now and it takes me under 5 seconds to pick it now. Not bragging. Just pointing out that this is probably one of the easier picks out there :) Still get a thrill every time I pick it though.

Yeah and I left the pick set,and it opens the American better than the key! As you probably know, now I can lock the shackle with the pick and it can't be opened even if someone has the key.

This was my first pick, a cheap EM-D-KAY Chinese lock. It was an easy pick but it was still a real thrill at the time!

My collection is pretty small right now, and mostly from Walmart. The most exciting thing there is probably the Ultimate Challenge Lock in the top right corner. I hope to add some new, more exciting locks in the near future.

I can pick all the ones I have, but the Master No.5 still gives me some trouble. (I'm working on that)

Excellent start, it really is. Most of those Masters have given you a feel for picking spools.
And the BEST, with it's tighter tolerances, I'm sure has forced you to up your finesse. Good!

The Master No5 giving you some trouble. No big deal... some of them are just a little odd
and take some getting use to. If you're able to pick the rest, then you're doing damn good.
Better than the other way around (if you could only pick the No5, but none of the rest!) lol

As I mentioned in your other thread... get on ebay. Otherwise you'll be dropping a small fortune
at mainstream stores (like I did). Think I exhausted all stores within a 40 mile radius of me before
I finally went ebaying :???: Also, a lot of good buys & trades can come from members here too.
