The Code-Locks don't use a solinoid, they are all mechanical. Very like an old egyptian lock, with pegs, you don't know if you are locking one digit or unlocking it , when you depress it. I haven't re-coded one in years, but you can use 4,5 or 6 numbers as a code, if I remember right several of the keys, which are lettered are not normally used. They are much like the Supra keybox pushbutton lock, as you can not re-use any digit for your code, & enter the codes in any order.
I think you could learn a lot from reading the code change procedures and I'm not being sarcastic because I am turning over a new leaf, you see.
