Noob perspective

A few things I notice now that I'm into locks that I never thought twice about... Please ad to the list.

1. Locks installed upside down.

2. When looking for the key to my front door I look at the bitting and don't use any other form of distinction.

3. As I sleep I imagine pins moving past the shear line and how that feels..

The upside down locks really bothers me for some reason, I wonder if the installer did that on purpose or even knows what they did... Or knows but to lazy to undue a couple screws n flip it over.. I bet it would be harder to pick for me at least but prolly not good for the lock specially for something on the exterior...

Re: Noob perspective

Upside down locks drive me nuts!!
When installed in a storefront, it's typically on purpose, so that a key from the outside will not actually work the lock.

Ahhh shit!
I HAVE THAT!

Both what you are experiencing and the Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder!
Not an extreme clinical case, fortunately, and I managed to control the worst of it by now, but I do feel urges of symetry, particulary on my nervous twiches (I do have a couple, also have been worst in the past).

And no, I'm not that weird guy that blinks his eyes very fast that usually is alone in the corner of the room. No one barely notices it
I just found it funny you mentioning it hahaha

Re: Noob perspective

I also notice when somebody's keys have cracks (about to snap off in the lock), or are excessively worn.

I do not have OCD, either.

Also notice when someone has a medium-to-high security key on their keychain.

Re: Noob perspective

I'll see a newspaper stand from 20 ft away, turn to my girlfriend and say...
"looks like an American. Probably a 1305. Oh, yep... it is" :D

Pulled into Walmart yesterday. Before we're even out of the car I spot the salvation army donation can...
"looks like a Master ProSeries 6121. And hanging off the side, hmmm, looks like another master, warded"

And "Oop, there's a 532. 5 pins... 4 spools and one weak serrated, usually in the first chamber"
LOL, I'm always rambling on about some useless shit.... dunno how she puts up with it :D

Going down the highway, license plates turn into combination games.

Easter takes on new meaning and so do air-fresheners

But no, I'm not OCD either.
