Security Pins...

Have one of you guyes ever wondert:

"Without the false set in would not be soo easy to pick
this Lock", or have i just a hang on spools ect. :?:

Last time it was on an Padlock: 2 reguler pins 4 spools/security driver pins,
when im finally pickt the 2 regulere pins its so easy to pick it.
Its just ....2.......31456"open".
Also on my frontdoor the tolerence is really small and i have really problems to pick it but in the momment it springs in the false set, i can take a deep breath "*phew*i got it*" because every time i get into it it will takes 2 minutes to open it.

have you ever got the same feeling?

Re: Security Pins...

Spools and mushroom pins can make a lock easier to pick because once your into a false set you know what you have left to pick.

Serrated pins however make it very hard because when you have a false set it dosent give the keyway that small rotation that you get with a spool or mushroom so it's hard to tell if you've set them or not so alo of the time you can end up oversetting them.

But Yes on some occations it does make it slightly easier to pick.

Oh Serrated pins right ive heard of them,
but i never saw one, are they so expensive to make
or just the producer of locks search for reasons to keep a balcence between cheap and expensive locks to make more money with this idea

Edit: oh jea bevore i forget: when the tolerance is lower in the llock
the rotation will be on the sherline bigger then on the kerf?
OR they are so invidious to make different deep kerfs in ine driver?
Ok there are some wired ideas in my head :?
but enyway thx for the answer

Re: Security Pins...

yeah my favorite type of lock to pick is one loaded with serrated spools... i feel they are the easiest to pick.. easier than the ones that have nothing special at all... (woohoo)
