Talking to a lock...
If that doesn't work, then I start getting and chatty and "talk my way through" the lock.
Yesterday I was waiting for my plane to be de-iced, and I had three locks in my jacket pocket and my basic picks.
Lock number one and three were no issue, (Lock number three had spools btw! I'm new to them so that was exciting).
Lock number two was giving me grief, so a conversation ensued:
self: "All right lock, why aren't you opening up for me here... "
lock: "..."
self: "Silent treatment eh? Ok let's see what we have, number one is up , number two is up, number three.... "
lock: "..."
self: "... not too sure, I'll come back to you in a second. Five is up. I can't tell on four. That third pin might be three or four. "
lock: "..."
self: "Ok, hook, you're out. Half diamond, you're in. Number three won't move.... less tension... less tension... less tension... "
lock: "..."
self: "Ha! That got three. Yep there's four behind a long three. Just nudge it and home free...I said.... nudge it.... Why you gotta play me like this lock? "
lock: "..." ( )
self: "Hmmmm maybe something is still overset, or overset again... front to back , everything is up.... ok ease of tension let just one pin fall.... "
lock: "..click." (turns open)
self: (fist pump)
I hope one other person on this earth does this
