Last pin refuses to set

Hi Guys,

So i bought a practice lock and it's a perfectly good lock, works fine so this is down to user error, but seeing as I've not been doing this too long, thought I'd seek out some help from the vets.

Basically it's a 6 pin euro lock, i set the other 5 pins, then the front pin (closest to the key opening) just wont set. I've tried applying tension from the top, and bottom, tried different amounts of tension but it just slips back down.

I'm also aware of binding pins etc but surely if the other pins are up then the last 'has' to set?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Also, the plug rotates both ways to open and I've tried tension from both ways.

Thanks in advance!

Put constant pressure on the last pin you think is binding and slowly reduce tension until it lifts. What happens?

YESS! DONE IT!

First lock picked :D

Not too sure how i did it, but i was just reducing/increasing tension and 'click'!

Thanks for the tip, much appreciated Xeo!

That click is really satisfying!

could have been an over set pin, varying tension while setting the last pin could have cause the over set key pin to drop.

To me this sound like you are trying to set the key pins. Could just be the your wording, but that would definitely prevent a lock from opening.
