Help , Mushroom pinned lock has me in a bind

Guys , i just can't beat my "Draper" 40mm 6 pin padlock,
i can get 3 or 4 easily , the key has no major high /low switches of
depth .
I don't know how many pins are mushroom type or if they all are ,
i am assuming only 2 as four set pins seems to be the closest i can get
wether i spp or rake , tok or bottom tension !
I'm at a stalemate here (same with Disk locks , although i managed to
open mine a couple of times ,1 of them anyway)
GIVE ME A SIGN ! WISE ONES

Re: Help , Mushroom pinned lock has me in a bind

hey, just a thought, when shrooms give me a hassle, i lube them.
have you done this?
just a tiny shot of silicone-based lubricant will do..™S.T.P. works well, the propellant all evaporates,
leaving behind a thin, dry film of lube.
also, if i am unable to spp shroom pinned locks,i reach for the bogata....
but thats just me.....
good luck! =)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! no graphite!
a microscopic drop of WD-40 will do in a pinch,
but avoid graphite at all costs..it makes sludge in the lock over time,
especially if someone sprays wd=40 in the lock after,or if the lock is being used in wet conditions.

Look at this video and it will help you easily understand mushroom pins. It's a surefire way of undoing those "knots" frantic is talking about.

For those that see the video and see how really, easy, easy it is...don't spoil it for those who haven't seen it. They need to appreciate the skill involved in doing this. :P

Graphite repells water. Rub some into your hand and pour some water over it.
Graphite 'sludge' won't damage a lock, however it may impair movement of pins if too much is used.

Get some Electrical Contact Cleaner. This is a solvent that won't damage any internal parts, but will clean the lock of any dirt\graphite\silicone and so on.
I mean really flush that sucker out. Spray it, run a key or pick through, then spray again until the liquid comes out clear.
THEN you can add some graphite. Not much, just one puff or so. if your key binds up or gets clogged going into the keyway, you're used WAY too much. if this happens, Re-flush and start again.
You only want to coat the pins and get everything moving.

The key is to work the lock as much as you can after getting the graphite in there. Turn the lock upside down, tap it, run a blank in and out, turn the plug both ways 10 times, anything you can to get the stuff moving around and coating everything.

90% of 'unpickable' locks can be opened by properly lubing them.
I've had old Americans, Masterlocks, Lockwoods, ABUS, XPT and so on with security pins that simple would not open. Careful lubing and working made them jump at the chance to open.

I personally never use WD40 or any silicone based products on the pin\plug part of any lock. While it may serve the purpose for the moment, after a few months of usage the lock will attract any dirt\lint\muck from the keys and picks going into it, and will only cause issues. Drylube FTW.

Also a footnote: Never lube a lock at all if you're planning on impressioning.
The opposite is the key for impressioning, you want as much binding as possible.

SHAZAM !
I finally popped that ******* ******* !
A light tension false set , followed by a sturdy hook to pop the
stragglers , T.O.K tension and new rakes that renewed my enthusiasm
brought me back to the beginning , with the thrill of achievement
that can only be dampened by a wife who thinks you're nuts !

jap ok never use graphit but in shool we learnt explicit,
ONLY use Graphite!!!
because oli or spay and stuff would tend to resinify in the lock soon or later, its enouth when a bit of dust land in the lock and it never will go out.
so ok when its used outside like padlocks or the producer used oil in it,
ok no graphit but in any other situation please use graphit.
(its enouth when you take a bit of your pencil)
Just want to say this because i learnd in shool so mutch of it and i cant hold still when i read this :D
