Figured you'd like that Oldfast.
As far as the mounts I will do soon enough I have a pile of them to make so it'll be a weekend project. The one that is in the pic is a prototype I did just to get things figured out so it's not an actual display mount.
This batch will be birds eye and curly maple. Then I hope to get some black walnut and maybe some cherry depends on what the lumber mill has on stock at the time.

Those will turn out looking beautiful I'm sure. Can't wait to see some.
A note on mounting to wood; last summer I didn't run the air much in an effort to save some $.
Naturally, as the humidity rose some of the wooden mounts expanded to a point that made the
dials difficult to turn. Not helping matters - my safe lock shelving that runs around the lock room
is within a couple feet of the ceiling, lol.
Now, my painted mounts seem to be more sealed, so didn't experience the expansion that the
bare wood mounts did. If you keep your home at a constant temp you have no worries. And, of
course, even if this does happen - the wood eventually comes back down, you can get back to
spinning - no permanent damage. I remember I was a little disheartened at first though. lol
Anyway, thought I'd just mention it. There's really no downside to wooden mounts.
It's a nice easy material to work with and they turn out looking fantastic. There's
quite a variety of textured spay paints to choose from nowadays. But I also love
to leave the beauty of the wood sometimes too. Linseed oil is a nice look too.
Nice clock

When warmer weather arrives I plan to make a mount for the beauty you sent me.
It'll be a long time coming. But I want the mount to match the magnificence of the lock!
I've never made a mount for such a lock... so it'll be a first & a bit of a learning experience.
