My job is going through some remodeling so i talked the locksmith into letting me have the old locks. I was told the mortises are Yale's don't know about the other one. Then there is our good ol friend masterlock and china lock. I havn't picked any of the mortise cylinders yet nor the other lock.

I think most of us that aren't locksmiths started either with some generic low quality padlock from China or a Masterlock. We all have to start somewhere. Being from the USA it will be easy for you to get good deals on US locks on ebay. Get yourself a good hobby vise to mount your cylinders for picking. Don't pick cylinders by holding them, you will learn bad habits which will make it very difficult when you want/need to pick a mounted cylinder.

Its in the lock position. when the locksmith gave it to me it was in the open position I closed it. It looks open but the bible is in the shadow of the other lock.

oh never mind i turned it the wrong way and its old and gummed up. The locksmith did give it to me unlocked though.

well in the photo am looking at it still looks to be in the unlocked position. Guessing the driver pins are sticking down into the bottom of the key-way which is under the bible. Try running a diamond pick across the pins while applying slit turning with a tension wrench. Be careful not to rotate it 180 degrees otherwise it will be locked. Unless that's what you want.

Yip looks like the pins dropped into the keyway, thats exactly what I did when I opened the lock on my door and couldnt get the key back in so came on here in a panick for what to do. Easily solved with the back of a pick as jharveee points out.

Koconcept, you gotta watch this lot on here they can spot something amiss on a lock from half mile away, but they are a helpful bunch.

I actually thought i locked it till you guys spoke up. Its locked now Im not gonna attempt to pick it or the mortises till i get some other locks picked like a master 140. The keyways on these mortise cylinders looks pretty tough.

Fun locks! HERE's what you're dealing with. Might help to see. Just above it is a 141 - usually have a blue or black plastic cover.
Some pop open rather easy, others seem to play games with you. There's usually the perfect binding order that will allow you to
open it setting each pin only once. Or, you may find yourself losing previously set pins while you try n' set some of the spools.
I find that pin 1 (usually weakly serrated) has a tendency to drop back down. Reset it as many times as needed as you work
the spools until it opens. And remember to have fun!
