Re: Locks from Australia

Beautiful collection locks.

Shipping question: I shot down a trade from Australia due to costs via USPS. Is there a lower cost way ship there?

Thanks

Re: Locks from Australia

I sent him a small flat rate box. 4LB limit, cost 23.95 to ship.

Re: Locks from Australia

Flat rate boxes (or envelopes) are cheaper. Also, the rates have gone up. Think it is now $29.95 to most international addresses for the small box.

Look here for an answer to both questions: http://books.google.com.au/books?id=7m41LA8WsvUC&lpg=PA97&ots=FDB0gT9i-a&dq=lockwood%20v7&pg=PA97#v=onepage&q&f=false

It's an early high security lock that was original in its design at the time AFAIK. It holds sentimental value for many Australian lock enthusiasts because it reminds us of a time when we had a more energised manufacturing sector, when we made things and it reminds us that we can make high quality things. Lockwood is now a part of the Assa-Abloy juggernaut and the V7 is no longer produced. The key blanks are/were restricted so when a V7 comes up for sale or swap it often doesn't have a key.

It is the one in the middle. It is called a V7 because the pins are aligned in a 'V' shape, coming into the keyway from two directions. Four pins come from the right, and three from the left. The keyway actually looks like a 'Y' instead of a 'V'.

Here are two of the three in my collection. No factory keys - only modified Kwikset keys.
