today i went garbage picking

Passed the local video game store today and I saw they had two large wooden display cabinets at the curb for garbage. A closer inspection revealed that each had eight locks on them which I removed.
Does any one know what this retaining clip might be used for?

Olympus Lock 800SC with Schlage C keyway I think. They have the same one's in deadbolt form at my church. This is just the deadbolt form.

It looks like a National Cabinet lock to me. Ilco #1069L would be my guess. I am usually pretty good at this stuff .
