Datagram's Lock Collection

I made a post in 2010 that showed a good portion of my lock collection. This has been updated as of June 2012 with a lot more locks! I've tried to limit photos to unique locks (I have a lot of multiples) to keep the photos interesting. Also not shown are a good number of locks that are used for training, conferences, and forensic testing. For those that want to learn more about some of these locks, this post now includes lockwiki.com links to specific lock model pages where available. "P" links are for additional photos on Lockwiki where no lock model page exists. Full disclosure: I run LockWiki and am shamelessly promoting it. Please feel free to make a page for any locks, tools, or topics that don't currently exist!

Thank you for viewing! Feel free to ask questions.

Without further ado, I have a few locks I've gathered over the years...

Mauer extended key locks, pin-tumbler and dimple variants. The snappable side is placed on the outside of the door and the long keys are used to open the lock by turning both plugs. The idea is that an attacker would try to pick, drill, or snap the outside cylinder and still not be able to open the lock unless they were to also attack the second cylinder. The pin-tumbler version requires two different keys because of keyway inversion on the inside cylinder.

Image
Magnetic locks from various manufacturers: EVVA MCS, Miracle Magnetic, MIWA EC, MIWA 3800, MIWA Cam locks, Avocet ABS, Genii. I will eventually publish a paper on magnetic lock designs on lockpickingforensics.com.

A few years now, but in the last year or so I've drastically slowed in getting new locks...mostly because the only ones I want now are rare or expensive. For a while I think I'll focus on cool tools instead : )

Maybe. Even at the time of posting this was not comprehensive.

Yeah, it doesn't look like all those locks would equal a ton. :D
