I'm pretty sure that's a BiLock, I think they are used more down under, maybe one of the aussie lads could shed a little light on that.

Re: strangest cylinder and key in the world??????

It's not a BiLock, or at least not like one I've ever seen, although key blade and keyway shape are very similar.

I'm a bit jealous right now, that's an awesome and unique piece for a collection. I wouldn't part with it easily if I were you.

Re: strangest cylinder and key in the world??????

A very cool lock indeed. But not a Bilock, even though the key blade has a similar layout, and looking like a bit of a knock-off. I would have thought Bilock would jump on a design like this. I'd love to see the guts of it.

I have a couple of Bilocks. Very cool design. Here's one example:

DOM System D also uses a dual, bladed folded key, but with a wicked keyway. Think Xeo did a video that he posted picking the DOM. If the DOM can be picked, then the one you have can be picked.

Bob Dix has a Schlage prototype in his collection that is very similar.

Re: strangest cylinder and key in the world??????

Have you tried picking it?
Do you need to make an extra long pick to reach all the way to the back of the keyway?
If I'm counting right, it looks like there are 22 pins total, 11 on each side.

Re: strangest cylinder and key in the world??????

I forgot one detail cylinder has one pin that is free.
when you put the key pin reaches the end. (I'll put pictures) I was not expecting such a mystery. last night I watched Mauer, Schlage, Asec, Yale, Abloy, ASSA everything all better brand.
I have not found anything like this. I was sure that when I put the image of the cylinder will not be anything special.

Re: strangest cylinder and key in the world??????

I'm not trying to pick the lock I counted 21 pin without the pin that moves and I agree that I have to make a special tool.
I'll try but I have to find out what this is.
Is it possible that this is so special
Perhaps some company went bankrupt and did a one cylinder LOL

Re: strangest cylinder and key in the world??????

My Guess is that it's Chinese.

From the look of the keys and the fact that you can't find any info on it.

How would describe the overall quality of the cylinder?

Interesting lock.

Re: strangest cylinder and key in the world??????

I'm not sure that the Chinese production.
quality is immediately noticeable when you take into account that the length of the cylinder 55mm
a thesis more than bks88 cylinder 95mm( only example).
processing of keys is excellent quality is very good
does not look like a Chinese work
but everything is possible

Re: strangest cylinder and key in the world??????

Hi Darijan - Oh and welcome.

I was not implying that Chinese locks are all crap. They make some very fine locks. A cheap Chinese lock is just a cheap lock made in China. Like stated in a previous thread, you get what you pay for.

What I have found is that when I have tried to find information on a particular brand of Chinese lock - I can't.

A lock made in the same factory has many different names. A good example are the Chinese disk locks - all different names but the same lock.

I asked about the quality of the cylinder because I have some that look very nice but the metal is usually not very good, like "Hardened" is stamped on the shackle but you can scratch it with a pick and the keys don't look like quality European lock keys.

Anyway, It was just my guess. The reason that made me guess "Chinese" is that information about it is hard to find.

Sorry if this is a bit of a ramble, It's early and I haven't had my meds yet. :D

Re: strangest cylinder and key in the world??????

I notice the keyway is offset in the plug which has me thinking that one side may be a dummy with no or non-interactive pins. You should try making a copy of the centered side of the key and see if it operates. Alternatively just try picking the one side and see if that works. Do you get feedback (springiness) from the offset side of the keyway? Just looks like there would be no pin chambers for the offset side.
