Some Picks for Donation Auction

Forum rules
This subforum is for members wishing to donate spare items for sale or auction, with all proceeds going towards KeyPicking forum operating expenses.

Items will be listed as either a fixed price or auction to the highest bidder.

Rules:
1) If you wish to list an item for donation purposes in this sub-forum, please contact ElbowMacaroni and MBI directly via PM, or send an email to kpmgmt@keypicking.com (this address will reach both of us) – and specify whether you want to offer it for AUCTION or FIXED PRICE. Include the text of what you want to post so we can review it before you post it on the forum.

4) A BUYER interested in purchasing an item for the FIXED PRICE should post it as a reply in the forum thread then contact us (ElbowMacaroni and MBI via PM or email to kpmgmt@keypicking.com) for payment and shipping arrangements.

5) All bids should be openly posted as replies in the thread listing the item.

6) Payments must be submitted via PayPal (link on the main portal page).

Some Picks for Donation Auction

This is a donation auction for keypicking.com, all the money will go towards site management and cat food for Xeo  . If you all love this site as much as I do, I encourage you to do bid generously!

From top to bottom you have a bogota quad hump followed by a short hook, both made from stainless steel. Next is a double-sided, medium diamond and an offset diamond/deforest made by KP member Josh66 over a year ago. It's made from titanium and works great but I've since replaced it with other store bought tools and would love to see it find a good home. Then on the bottom are some varying lengths and widths of wiper inserts and a section of bicycle spoke for bending into tension wrenches of your choosing. The first picture are the picks resting on a 5 1/2" X 3 1/2" notepad to give you some idea of the size.

AUCTION RULES: :whip:

-The bidding will start now and end one week from today, Feb.17th @ 9pm EST.
-The highest bidder will then be contacted to supply payment to Keypicking.com
-Once payment is made I will ship them out via USPS/Fedex/UPS depending on your location. I will cover the shipping costs with the hope that the winner is not living in Antarctica.
-If I've forgotten to mention or make clear on anything, mods will handle any dispute or misunderstanding. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
-The bidding will begin at 21105 Vietnamese Dongs/105.45 Pakistani Rupees/13.31 Mexican Pesos/0.001468 Bitcoins/
1 US Dollar!!
:hbg: :hbg: Happy Bidding :hbg: :hbg:

Re: Some Picks for Donation Auction

with all my free time lately, ive gone ahead and added a bonus pick, 3rd picture down. it's made from titanium and works great on tight keyways and small padlocks. plus, titanium means there's no magnetic signature for those who may not have known.

the addition of this pick does not alter the rules or current bidding of the auction..enjoy!

Re: Some Picks for Donation Auction

If anyone is looking at this auction and isn't familiar with the work of Josh66, he makes some amazing picks. He's been pretty busy in his personal life lately so hasn't been around much in recent months, but is an aircraft engineer (of some kind, I don't remember the details because I'm senile :???: ) and he does a lot of very meticulous metalwork in his professional life.

His titanium picks usually start with a thicker blank that's something like .035 or .040 or something like that, then he progressively sands down the thickness as he works towards the tips so it ends up with a ridgid handle, but slim, well polished and thin working tips. He experimented with several alloys and thicknesses and found one titanium alloy that seems to work particularly well for picks which is springy enough to bend, but strong enough to hold it's shape if it's not abused.

Here is the thread of his homebrew picks, pictures and descriptions of his double sided titanium picks start on the second page.

And thank you rerun12 for your support of the forum in holding this auction.

Absolutely. All the picks he sent me were the finest homemades I've ever laid eyes on outside of raimundos masterpieces (**cough still waitin on you rai cough**). Aside from the finish which is incredble, it's amazing how strong they are given their thinness...that's titanium for ya i suppose. Great material to work with and i suggest any new pickmakers out there to try an get there hands on some
