If elbowmacaroni gives a thumbs up as well, I'd go for that. Maybe something like user submitted designs and then see which one we want to use. Could even make it an annual thing, a limited run of Keypicking shirts each year with a different user-submitted design each time.

I have a box of locks here donated by Selim. Another box in the garage, I'll have to go check the box in order to remember who donated those (whoever it was, I apologize for my poor memory). I'd put together a selection of locks as a prize for the winner.

I like the one that Gnarus recommended a few years back.

Not sure how many folks would feel up to participating in that one, but it could be rather neat to see the results!

Potti314 youtube did lock reassembly challenge recently - whoever could reassemble a lock the fastest (on video) won.

With a cut away contest, how do you level the playing field? Hand tools only, maybe? Because the guys with the mills would have a huge advantage, realistically leaving the rest of us in their wake. I like the T-shirt idea. Mostly because some (like me) can draw up a design, others can use a computer (nearly everyone else!), but most can have a shot. Same with pick making. Most can have a shot at it, craftsmanship and creativity will win. Maybe make a theme that your pick most satisfy? ( What pick would St. Peter use if his gate got locked with the key inside?). Or something else as silly! ( What pick would Davey Jones use to open his locker?).

I had thought about that too...maybe we could do 2 different winners, one with a mill, and one with just hand tools/dremel, drill ect

MS's idea sounds like a good one for a pick making contest..... I LIKE IT!

The wire hanger that holds up his halo apparently.... :-) :P

I would say the t-shirt and theme related pick making contest are 2 good ones right there.

Re: It's high time for a contest! Seeking suggestions

Maybe two cutaway contest categories? One for hand-tools, and another for machining? Or we could just take the method making into account, e.g. maybe a hand-made one wouldn't look quite as nice as a machined one, but it would be more favorably scored due to how it was made.

I'd love to see a new contest pop up on here.
Howdy!
