2011 Contest Suggestions

Ok, people, it's that time of year again. Spring is in the air - including generous sprinklings of nuclear fall-out.

So, before we all glow in the dark, let me hear from you.

What are your contest suggestions?

Re: 2011 Contest Suggestions

My suggestion is for users to create and submit a youtube video illustrating an original, personal, or unique technique that they have personally created or coined to somehow bypass a lock or security mechanism or add in some significant way to the locksport community. Something that highlights the ingenuity of the members of the community by displaying their own original use of improvisation, improvised materials, etc. to help pick, bypass, shim, impression... etc. I'd want everyone else to come up with generally accepted rules but I think it's a good idea.

Re: 2011 Contest Suggestions

i really liked the dimple picking video contest... i think lock specific vids are neat like, everyone pick a duo... its easy to get off ebay and easy to pick...
the duo is just an example you could make it the g55 mult garrison or whatever, just somehting easy to get ( i wouldnt go with a master or kwikset)
a homebrew tools vid would be neat too... wheather its a bypass tool or pick, show the tool in use opening the desired lock...

Re: 2011 Contest Suggestions

everyone gets one master No.5,and one sock.
put the locks in the socks....last man standing wins.
(a bunch of socks and master No. 5's is the prize.)

But seriously what about a trivia contest?
or is that a poor idea?
it would be a lot of work putting it together,if it were to challenging, given google can answer pretty much any query.

EDIT: sandman has to be hogtied and swing the sock with his teeth.

Haha I like that!

I do like the trivia, but how would it be regulated, non cheating and all that. Not that i'm saying a lot of guys here would cheat, but the possibility is there.
I think LSA's idea about a readily available lock, nothing extravagant or expensive, but something that puts up a decent challenge. I mean there are Yales out there that are a bitch to pick, and they can usually be found some what cheap. Not sure if people want an intermediate comp and an advanced comp, or just an all member comp.

I'd like to see a contest involving sidebar locks, such as; the primus, medeco, scanlock, scorpion, etc. I think that would be awesome!!!

Re: 2011 Contest Suggestions

I'd agree with the trivia if it could be put together in such a way that people couldn't cheat. . . How about a timed contest on a specific lock?

Re: 2011 Contest Suggestions

lets have a "do stupid stuff with LBO's avatar"-contest! https://keypicking.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=5166

we could always do something to show how locksport has helped the community, improve lock technology, or something like that

Craziest tensioner?

Pinning a lock on camera and then picking it ?

Using 5 fingers as 5 plug followers at the same time (FarmerFreak is exempt from this one) ?
