Just got this old Slaymaker padlock in the mail today and thought I'd share the pics with you. It's kind of a different padlock in that the hasp is a interlocking design. The lock is a 5 wafer and not hard to pick, but in its day was probably a pretty good deterrent to a thief. The lock opens by turning the key 90 deg. clockwise. The hasp will then pop up and swing out automatically. When you swing the hasp back over the padlock, the spring pulls it back down into the lock body and locks it securely. I've seen pics of this lock design, but this is the first one I've ever owned or had my hands on. I think it's kind of unique and cool. Mark

Interesting design. I have an older warded lock that will pop the shackle out and swing it away but it does not have the interlocking part on it like the corbin.

I worked on a small Yale padlock once that had the same shackle action.
First time I had ever seen one like that and thought it was really neat.
But again, it did'nt have the interlocking portion like that one.

Hey, MrAnybody! Here is another one! That is three using that interlocking shackle. It even automagically swings open when the key is turned, and snaps down to lock when the shackle is turned back, just like ours do.

So now we know of a push key padlock, a lever padlock, and a wafer padlock that use that mechanism. All of them appear to be older padlocks.
