Old Schlage and new WB padlocks

Might as well do a combination thread!
First up are 3 old Schlage padlocks I recently got off ebay. The newer one was unassembled NOS. The 2 with the figure 8 cylinder are model 910 and the other is model 912. They all take a standard Schlage KIK cylinder but you must have the right tailpiece. The 910 comes apart very easily with a screw under the shackle. The 912 is a pain in the butt to take apart. The rectangular piece you see on the outside is a stamped metal retainer that pretty much has to be punched out from under the shackle. I have two more 910 padlock bodies with new retainers, one of the local locksmiths is going to try and find me replacement shackles so I can get them put together.

Next we have a brand new WB padlock I purchased at a local marine/industrial supply. It was the only one they had, and it only came with one key.
Based on the wicked keyway, it is probably a lockout lock. Picked open pretty easily.

I added another restricted keyway WB to the collection today, courtesy of eBay.

What type of key blank does that unusual keyway WB padlock have (The one with 3487 stamped on the rear)? I just acquired one of those and I can get an m21 to fit into it but I can't impression it using that. I'm dying to make a key for this thing. Thanks.

It's a restricted keyway.

I contacted the MFR, the keyway is an WR and it is restricted. I tried to impression it using different methods and was un successful. I ended up picking and holding it open at the top of the keyway with a short tension wrench made from wiper blade steel while taking Nashua 324-a hvac tape (folding it over a few times really small) and shoving it in the keyway then pushing it up to the pins with a peterson deep hook to get a foil impression. I used a M21 blank, it has only 2 cuts (#2 and #4 both same depth) the key I made works well....

Do you have a pic of how you folded the tape?
