This is a old Corbin I got after replacing the malfunctioning mortise hardware. Apparently another locksmith showed up and 'serviced' the unit (he just made it worse, or so the home owner told me).
The house was built in 1929 and I was told this is the original lock. Instead of a key-pin, there is a ball-bearing in the first pin position. The key, after yeeeears of use is worn down and requires 'play' in the keyway. But otherwise it's a very nice old lock.

does each chamber have ball bearings? i have a russwin like that.

I can confirm the second chamber does not have one but i've yet to pull the core out and examine the pins.

Some of the older Corbins had ball bearings in every chamber, but then they figured out two things: First, the remaining key pins have much less wear than the first pin, and the second thing was how much money they could save by not putting bearings in each chamber.

I sent one of these to Logan about six months ago.

He was going to gut it on video, repin it with security pins and make me a key.

He PMed me that he received it, got new batteries for his camera - then disappeared

He hasn't logged on to the forum since then or answered any emails.

I'm not worried about the lock (no money was exchanged) more about him.

Does anyone know what happened to him?

I know people drop out for a while, go on holidays etc. but this was really sudden and in the middle of a "conversation" as it were.

Actually I'm a bit concerned.

Any news would be appreciated.
