Two neat padlocks from Kumorigoe!

I received these padlocks from Kumo, in an attempt to find the right blanks and have keys made.
We cleaned the padlocks up at work, and I was able to find a blank that fits! I only can spot 3 pin covers on the top of the lock which is quite odd!

Those are nice! Can't say as though I've seen locks like that before.
So one of them says "U.S", but the other says nothing on either side?
Obviously, you or Kumo had success in picking them, eh?
Should be interesting to see what I come up with :)

Re: Two neat padlocks from Kumorigoe!

Yep oldfast, one says US and the other is unmarked! Both of us were able to get them open by raking.
I've actually discovered that H700 is a valid code so I'm having a key made first, but may end up sending them your way.

In the 70's we (USAF) used brass US marked padlocks to lock the ignition switch on deuce and a halfs as well as weapon carriers.

Wow, those look a lot nicer than they did!

I really appreciate you guys for helping me out on these! Hopefully I can return the favor somehow. Below are some pics of the previous condition of the locks.

Re: Two neat padlocks from Kumorigoe!

that keyway looks like a hurd lock and the keys you use have groove for warding that isn't in the keyway. hurd is a pretty easy pick, no security pins.

Re: Two neat padlocks from Kumorigoe!

So this seems to be a bit of a mystery. Yes, at a glance, the keyway looks like HURD.
But, to my knowledge, HURD has no keyways with the side ward being that high.

The protrusion of the plug face shouts Corbin. But again, no exact matches.

After looking quite a bit, I've found no exact matches. What other companies
have had government contracts in the past? American, WB, Yale, etc...?

Someone round here's gotta know somethin' I would think...

Re: Two neat padlocks from Kumorigoe!

The Hurd blanks I have fit but are too small to fill the keyway. The lack of warding is common to the Hurd blanks in the Ilco book.

Yeah, I dunno. I just sat here and basically thumbed through the entire Ilco catalog.... nothing. lol

Re: Two neat padlocks from Kumorigoe!

I have some of the old Hurd and I think, Fraim, that have flat ground on one side keys. But the plug protrusion also reminds me of Eagle, as well.

Re: Two neat padlocks from Kumorigoe!

I left one of the 2 padlocks with a local locksmith and he found yet another blank that fits. It's a KEIL marked 59B.
