I went to my local locksmith shop recently. Its an awesome shop, tons of old civil war locks, old medeco and abloy padlocks hanging all over the walls, salesman cutaways and other vintage display and advertisements. Shops like this one are few and far between. The guy that runs the place is very reluctant to sell anything in this massive collection and, who can blame him? He agreed to sell me an old 4 pin yale rim cylinder though, so I told him I had to go to the ATM. When I returned he had this lock out and agreed to sell it as well, so, back to the ATM. It was worth it. This lock is a 10 wafer I think, it has 2 keyways, one of which is labeled MAID as you can see. The really weird thing about this lock is that when I turn the key clockwise the adams rite tab on the back rotates counter clockwise. I have tried to pick it...unsuccessfully, and Im worried that if I try to disassemble it that I will damage it. Anyway, its a cool little lock. He gave me 10 keys for it, none are the MAID key though.

ive wondered the same thing and asked if he had any when i bought it, he didnt. thanks for the medeco and for throwing in the keys by the way. i provided feedback accordingly

will do man, im just timid to take it apart. i guess i should take a pic of the back of it, it looks like it has pins that need to be driven out to remove the plug(s)

you should go back to the shop and take closeup photos of all those locks, especially the antique ones and the one on the front door....

I actually took some pics of the shop with my phone, but i didnt get detailed shots. it started to spook the guy working. he was really cool though

Haven't figured out to change the guest key.

The maid side key is stamped E3, so i think it might be the emergency key, but i'm not sure


I read through the patent but they arent clear, and i haven't found directions anywhere about how to use the emergency or program keys....
I can insert the key into the maid side and turn and remove it from the second slot but i dunno where to go from there.

I guess i need to get a different Guest key so i can figure it out.

If anyone has new info about these... it would be great.

Wow. Never seen one of these with both keys. Mine only has a single, non-operable guest key.

Somewhere, I have a reset procedure for these. Like you, I reviewed the hell out of patent drawings and anything else I could find; was trying to figure out a way to recode to guest key and cut maid key (to no avail). I'll see what I can dig up in my files.
