Odd Sargent Mortise

Hey guys-
I picked this lock up the other day. At first glance, it appears to be a normal Sargent mortise cylinder...until you look at the back.

Instead of a normal cam with 2 screws, this cam clips into the plug. I've never seen anything like it, and can not find any information in my various Sargent PDFs.

Any information would be most appreciated!

Re: Odd Sargent Mortise

That had to be fairly common at one time Jeff. I used to run into those all the time. Actually, it seems like a pretty good system if you don't take them apart too often.

It had me very confused, but it makes sense like you said.

Re: Odd Sargent Mortise

It looks suspiciously like the tailpiece retainer on Yale rim cylinders.
