RR Brink Mogul Prison Lock

This is a 6 pin RR Brink Mogul Cylinder. The lock has 2 separate shear lines, just like a Corbin/Russwin Master Ring Cylinder. Cylinder is 2 1/4" diameter and the keys are 3 1/8" long. All 6 chambers use ball bearings under the keypins and all 6 chambers have security drivers. The plug follower I used was a Craftsman 5/8" deep well spark plug socket, worked perfect. A standard lock pin is .115 in diameter, the pins in the Mogul are .155 . When I received the lock I got 2 keys that were the same, they both worked the inner shearline. I filed down one of the keys so it would work the outer shearline so I now have keys for both shearlines.

except mine has no second set of pins... so my second sheerline is inaccessable

That's awesome! Other moguls I've seen have a normal sized cylinder etc just in a bigger shell... that one is just scaled up to fuck! You should make an extra large pick for it.

Oversized locks in prisons meant bigger tools using more metal which in turn was more difficult to hide. Countermeasures: Staff employed patdowns and metal detectors. Cameras have been added to the mix. That concludes the history lesson for today. Happy Lockup.

Thanks for that, I figured that bigger locks in prison meant more heavy duty...but it never occurred to me about bigger tools and metal and all that. Cool fact.
