I will check the LSS and see if there is any mention of this type of lock.

That's gotta be someone's special application; maybe for attaching to a chain or some solid structure. I've never seen anything like it. but I'll bid against you for it! LOL

Re: What is this Junkunc lock for?

I think magician has got it, that it's probably not really a lock proper per se... but almost more like what one would use a quick release D dring for or a carabiner nowadays... or some similar type application... just shots in the dark of course... And it doesn't have patent #'s only "Pat. Applied For" on it... But I'm guessing that they probably would have been awarded the patent, so maybe looking through junkunc's patents could reveal the true nature? shit... now I have me something to at least put a mild effort into...

Re: What is this Junkunc lock for?

Ok, I searched google patents, patents.com, and the USPTO site, and I can't find it in granted patents or in applications... it's gotta be there, but damned if I can find it. Maybe someone else will have better luck.

Yeah: I spent a while looking as well, and no luck. I can't find a reference to that model anywhere.

Yeah, weird too, as it says "Pat. applied For" right on the body. So one should be able to find the application at least.

Re: What is this Junkunc lock for?

Just spent a couple hours checking out patents, etc. and guess what? I can't find shit either. After looking at the pics again though, I'm wondering. Is the second (off center) hole factory drilled? Are we just going off the seller's word? At first I thought the holes looked different because it was just old and worn. But then I noticed that they actually look like 2 different diameters, and that they don't line up on their respective center lines as I would expect. Then I noticed that hole that "feels" more factory-ish is actually centered on the body of the padlock where i'd expect it to be. Maybe the 2nd offset hole wasn't factory drilled? Or am I just conspiracy theorizing out from staring at it for too long? Lol.

Re: What is this Junkunc lock for?

yeah, i don't think it's for any sort of security purpose either.

I also think that it was modified for a special task. Maybe we'll never know what it was for, but it is unusual.
