Re: Old, Rare, Interesting And Unusual Locks

here is an ancient brass/bronze (possibly military) lever lock.
(you may wish to call these "before" pictures..)
i will pick open, refurbish, and hopefully create a key for this lock, and envision the day when i take
the buffer to it.
it will shine.

I saw this lock over the weekend and just had to get a picture of it. Looks like a difficult keyway to get you pick into so I thought I would share.

Re: Old, Rare, Interesting And Unusual Locks

wow, I have seen a few of these keymark locks and I don't know for sure but I don't think they had a keyway like this. Just by looking at it, I would say you would need a special duplicator to make a copy of this key, because of the way it is slanted. Does anybody work with these locks that could explain there ins and outs?
I have been in the souls of many women, but I always end up on the soles of there shoes.

I googled around for a bit, looks like they call it the 'security leg keyway'.

Awesome find!

When I saw 'Keymark' on the lock I assumed it was pretty much a Medeco cylinder w/ sidebar. However, in the Features/Benefits table on the first page it says Feature: "Uses common style pins" Benefit: "No angle tip or interlocking pins which result in loss of keying capacity" So, no sidebar I assume. If so, it kind of amuses me that this company brags about some of their locks having angle tipped pins and a sidebar which resists picking. Basically, their selling point for one lock is what they are putting down when trying to sell another one. :?

yeah it also states:
"cylinders shall contain standard pins,a portion of which, both top and bottom shall be spooled
for greater resistance against picking"

spooled key AND driver pins ?
