Hi Gordon, pleased to meet you.
I just got a couple of Gougler padlocks without combo. On the shackle I can see 5240 and 7209 impressed.
Any hints?
How could I know if it's a 3 or 4 or 5 digits combo? is there any publication/document helping on that? Thanks a lot!

Glad to be of service.

Keep hanging out here at KP. Evenings are sometimes slow, but when people show up and ask questions in chat, it can be pretty fun in chat. Try it out sometime. :D

Fausto,

Code 5240 Combo 5-8-7 (Right, Left, Right)
Code 7209 Combo 8-5-3 (Right, Left, Right)

3 digit codes are LRLR
4 digit codes ending in 200-249 are RLR
4 digit codes ending in 125-149 are RLRLR

How I know the combos? I just take a random guess! :D ;)

Let me know if the combos work!

Gordon

Hi Gordon! thanks a lot for your feedback! :-)
I'm about to receive the padlocks from Ohio, as soon as they arrive I'll let you know if your numbers work!
Another Gougler padlock is travelling from Maine to Italy, it will take a few days to reach me! ;-))
This one has 4123 on the shackle, so I wonder if it is a RLR or a RLRLR combo..
Thanks again!!
Fausto

Hi! Just bought an old house and found a gougler keyless lock left behind in the basement. It looks like it’s in pretty good shape and I’d love to get it open and actually use it if anyone could help me out. I know this thread is kind of old so not sure if anyone will see/respond. The code printed on the side is 898 and on the shackle is 5222. Thanks!

Gordon,

You seem to be one with codes that is willing to share. I have a Gougler lock that was my uncle's. I forgot combo after I had not used it for awhile. Fortunately is was not being used to lock anything. The code on the shackle is F168.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

That was very interesting! Locks are facinating! Just bought a 100 year old Schwab safe (about 800-900 lbs!) and it was locked w/o the combination. It took me a couple of weeks to find a safe cracker. It was SO INTERESTING to watch him work! It took him about 20 minutes and he had the safe opened! He cleaned and lubricated the lock then wrote down my combination. That is definitely a lost art!
I have an old Gougler keyless lock that has 958 stamped on the shackle. Anyone have access to the combinations of these locks? I would sure appreciate any help!

Hi, I also found a googled keyless lock and don’t have a combination. The side of the lock has the numbers 434 and the shackle has 4146. And help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Gordon,

Are you still there?

I found my old Gougler lock from middle school in the 60's. I had two of these at the time.

The number stamped on the side of the lock is 1847; shackle number is 46.

The tag for the other lock (now missing) is for lock number 1848, and its combination is L9 R4 L7 R5.

Can you help me figure out the combination of the lock that I still have (1847)?

Many thanks in advance,

Larry

I realize this is an old thread but maybe someone sees this that can help..
I have a Gougler Keyless Click Lock with 0240 on the shackle, and 170 on the side of the body.
Can anyone decipher the combo from this information?
Thanks in advance!

Zero the lock by turning left all the way around three times to the initial starting point, then try 9 clicks left, 2 clicks right, 4 clicks left, then 2 clicks right.

If no luck, my next step would be more complicated. For each number X going from 1 to 10: zero again and then go X clicks right, then 8 clicks left, then 7 clicks right. So the first time would start with 1 click right, the second time would be 2 clicks right, etc.

Hope this works for you!

This is a lock that was used in schools from the 70s. It has a keyway on the back.

On the shank is 541 with no spaces.

I used to know the combination but had it outdoors on a storage barn and hadn't used the combination for perhaps
over a year.
There is no red dot on the front sprinner.
