I was browsing on Thingiverse for something lock related to print, and decided to print a padlock created by ttsalo. If you ever show up here, ttsalo, thank you!

This is a fully functional lever lock padlock of the bit and barrel design. It actually locks rather securely. You can see the key in the shackle area.

Image

Put the key into the keyway...

Image

start turning and you can see the levers lift to the proper height to allow the stump to clear the levers. So there is pick resistance.

Image

Finish turning when the bolt is fully retracted.

Image

Remove the key and the shackle.

Image

Oldfast would kill someone if there were no gut shots in this post, so here is the slot in the shackle that the bolt slides into preventing removal of the shackle.

Image

On this particular lock, there is a carrier that holds the levers and bolts that can be lifted out of the lock body when the shackle and key are removed.

Image

Here it is removed and with the bolt in the unlocked position.

Image

And locked.

Image

Placed the carrier in the shackle area to show the engagement of the shackle by the bolt.

Image

Levers removed. You can see that they are all different.

Image

Bolt in the carrier, unlocked position

Image

And the bolt slid over to the locked position.

Image

Here is the bolt by itself.

Image

As is common, the tip cut on the key blade engages the bolt. You can see there are still five cuts on the key blade used for the five levers.

Image

That about covers it.

Gordon

P.S. - Extra points to anyone who can tell why the lock was printed in the color orange. :D

I've seen that on thingiverse coming up for ages now but never liked the slot for the keyway, i know the centre post locates the key but it just doesn't look right. Now I've seen it printed it doesn't look bad, great for showing a customer how a lever lock works.

I wonder if it will need the post changing for a brass pin at some point, i can't answer your orange question but I did wonder if you're going to print a 2in1 to pick it with :)

Was making this as a surprise gift for member whose favorite color is orange. As I expected, this post was not up five minutes when I got a text from that person teasing that it must be orange because it was for that member. Then they found out that it was for them. So the question was a clue/test to see how long it would take to for them to guess. :D
