Chubb Locking Bar

Thought I may post a picture of my latest acquisition, a Chubb Locking Bar. Used to externally secure doors and sometimes trunks/chests it a great lump of brass with a 5 lever locking mechanism and heavy duty staple bolts.

It was going to the scrap heap and thankfully rescued. I've given it a bit of TLC and I'm intending to make up a wooden display board for it.

Many thanks to oldlock for the old marketing material and info regarding its use.

It's believed to be from around the 1950s.

Wow, that is really neat. It is a shame that this stuff usually gets tossed, thankfully you were able to save it.

Beautiful find.
I agree with Riyame, it's a good thing you were able to save it from being melted down.

Very cool indeed. Thanks for sharing! Look forward to the pics when you finish a mount for it someday too.

Yours could be older: it was around in the 1930's.

That's what we thought originally, but serial numbers and lack of detector mechanism indicated later manufacture.

Regardless of age, I like it. It's a hefty brass casting.
