YALE and WB - NYC TS IND

We all know craigslist isnt lock prime but if patient enough it can pay off and big time. This is that story, found this guy selling 9 locks on craigslist for pennys basically.

3 of these locks look like they were custom ordered from factory because Yale made their name in the lock as opposed to stamping it in like we almost always see. 3 are Yale and 1 is WB. Only 4 of the 9 have stamps/marking but I have not in detail inspected the other 5. I did notice that all 9 locks have 1616 stamped on or near the plug. The yales are all Y1 and the WBs are a flat type key although a Y1 fits lol. I think they are all KA and Jeff Moss already decoded and got me the bitting. Next step is to check the pins to see if it matchs then start cutting key. He is also getting me original Y1 blanks so thx Jeff.

A google search does not really show much as to what NYC TS IND stands for, I understand its old buses. If anyone has any more info please share. Also anyone know what ISO stands for on that WB?

Enjoy the show :)

A link to NYISO for ya Papa:
http://www.nyiso.com/public/about_nyiso ... /index.jsp

and the Yales would be "New York City Transit Service" which is now the MTA.

NYC TS IND I believe is from the: NYC Transit Service Independent Subway System. ISS and IND are both used to abbreviate Independent Subway System. Here is a wiki about it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independent_Subway_System

Looks like a great score, btw. VERY VERY nice locks! :)

Re: YALE and WB - NYC TS IND

Ith thanks very much.

Since day one of this hobby I wanted to have everything NY related for obvious reasons but as time went by I realized that NY locks are way beyond my price range so I sadly let that collection idea go. Super excited to see my collection start and with such locks full of history. Iv spent a huge chunk of my life in many different ways related to the subway system so this is all very exciting. As Im sure you can tell lol

Re: YALE and WB - NYC TS IND

Mike, you have no idea! Havent had the time last night to inspect the rest but every time I was near them I stopped and adored lol. You guys dont even realize how great of a deal this really was so to avoid hate mail I decided not to disclose the amount I paid for the lot :). Jeff is hooking me up with some original yale blanks to next time you will see these, they will look even better.
