Hi Guys,

I got these disc detainer locks the other day and found that there is a disc with warding that does not allow for the use of my traditional disc detainer pick. (Pictures attached)

With these locks, will I have to use some sort of home made tool (like the one in Solomon's video or another style) or is there a way to still use the traditional pick?

Have you guys managed to pick some locks with this style of warding?

Solomon also has a good video on picking these with simple picks. I use a thick tension wrench and some bet mechanic wire. Find his video and give i a shot.

I believe that what you are looking at is a hardened spinner that is used to keep drills out of the keyway,

This sits on top of the disc stack and spins 360 degrees

the first disc under it may be the pickup for the cylinder as it usually is in chinese locks.

A commercial discdetainer pick will not pass the wards to pick up that but if you look at handmade
dd picks they often have a piece of tubing that picks up the disc with two extensions that fit in the outer
sides of the keyway away from those wards.
You could get a pick down the center if you make a T from a nail or you could make a T from flat stock and put it
right in there

So yah, the commercial pick won't fit, but the lock probably can be picked with handmade tools.

I got one of these open!

Believe it or not I was not even using a tension wrench. I was kind of messing around and more or less raking the discs. Occasionally I would press on the warded disc which is the driver disc to see if by chance it would open~~~ and it did!

Now I can more or less eyeball where the discs should be and move them into position in a couple minutes.

I guess this lock is just that bad!

OK, now to try the others.
