cylinder for American series 600

I got one of these locks at a flea market for the sum of 1 dollar yesterday.
I am attempting to pick it and will have it impressioned, but would not mind having an extra cylinder on hand. I realize this is an old lock, but perhaps someone has an extra cylinder with keys that they would like to sell/trade.
I also recall a tutorial on these locks and how to remove the cylinders, but could not find the thread.
EDIT. Here is what the cylinder looks like, I believe it's one piece like the series 570 I have sitting on my bench.

Thanks,
Jeff

Re: cylinder for American series 600

Once you pick it, if you find there's no retaining screw...
then there's a pin that retains the core in the lock body.

Smack the lock on it's side in order to dislodge it and you'll see it drop into the shackle hole.
Might take quite a bit if there's alot of gunk... which is likley. Nice find for a buck!!!

I'd imagine the core will be similar to the one we were discussing here...

Re: cylinder for American series 600

I have the exact same model. one of my bigger padlocks. I've picked mine, but it took time, and yes, once you open it, there's a pin that sticks out inside the shackle hole, push that in and then the cylinder should come out.
I also had one that had a tubular cylinder in it, but I foolishly took it apart years ago and couldn't reassemble it and I think it got pitched!

Damn good locks! I used mine as a bike lock for some time, with a heavy chain. Also makes a good weapon, as seen in "Premium Rush"!

Ah yes, I believe you're right. The pin goes IN, not OUT like I remembered.

Glad you chimed in before Jeff beat the shit out of his desk on my account! LOL

Re: cylinder for American series 600

While I have a number of various cylinders in my American pinning kit, there are no cylinders of that particular shape. :-(. Sorry I can't help with that part.

Re: cylinder for American series 600

A regular (APTC12) cylinder fits in the series 570 lock and operates it, but there is no way to secure it...lol

Re: cylinder for American series 600

I am still looking for a cylinder for this lock. Someone? Anyone?
I know they exist because I see them on ebay but they are always in LOTS and I just need one.
