Can anyone assist in identifying this domestic keyway:

On the face of the cylinder it has inscribed :

M
L

I bought it off ebay without keys and thought I'd try impressioning it.

I'd also be interested to know what ML denotes.

I don't know domestic australian locks, schlage may have an M keyway, perhaps theres a cataloge of them on line, the schlage L blank is a masterkey blank that is thin and passes into other schlage keyways I don't know of any locks with the L keyway,

Dosent help you, but still good to know. possibly you will find that keway on a schlage cataloge,
the good ones are always international.

Thanks guys. Bezza also reckons its a restricted keyway. Bezza tells me that the "ML" denotes the Master Locksmiths Association of Australia. Apparently the MLAA administered a system of restricted keyways. It wouldn't surprise me if they just imported the Schlage system of restricted keyways and branded them "ML". I salvaged the KIK and a rim cylinder from a Lockwood 001 deadlatch and on close inspection the rim cylinder looks like it is a Lockwood 201 cylinder but with a non-Lockwood plug. I suspect it is non-Lockwood because the chrome finish on the rim cylinder and its plug don't match.

Certainly sounds more logical than my theory :P

You have to admit though, that's a hell of a coincidence.

Or maybe they just want you to think it's a coincidence and it is a hidden Masonic code. "ML" probably stands for "Masonic Lodge" and this proves that the Freemasons run the world. Dan Brown was right! :P
