Re: little master locks

Well isn't that just the damnedest thing...
Unfortunately the cheap Masters like the #2, #3 etc. aren't designed to be re-keyable; once the rivets are set in place in the factory thats where the core is going to stay unless you grind or break them off.

Re: little master locks

Yep sorry Bezza but logan is right. The #3s are pretty set unless you mean to get really aggresive. The similar style/size rekeyable equivilent would be a Master lock #21. Good luck

Re: little master locks

(Blinking his eyes) I don't see a backwards plug in the picture. I see a plug face with a milled front; but nothing that looks like a reversed key way.

Re: little master locks

Those are the new "up" padlocks. There is a tool and a technique to keying those. You put your existing key in, twist and use the tool at the same time and then they are keyed to your key. Problem is I don't know much about them or where to get that tool.

HL Flake carries them.

Re: little master locks

Yeah, interesting concept. I've never seen or used the tool myself...
but I have picked a few, and tore one apart apart just to take a look.

Thanks for the teardown. That certainly explains the recessed plug face.

My pleasure. Although I wasn't all that helpful as far as the actual use of the tool.

I would LOVE to see someone make a vid on actually using the tool.

Forgot I'd done a write-up on these to. Much better pics here viewtopic.php?p=42933#p42933 than in the video.

Re: little master locks

Theory: UP locks can be reset to a random key, as long as enough turning pressure is applied without breaking the key.
