I locked a 826 on the front disc on my 1998/9 Harley, but I turned the control key the wrong way and the maintenance slot fell out and I locked the lock! I am a non-drinker, it was dark and starting to rain .... other than those lame alibies ---- It is the 10th or so stupid things on my done list! CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP? Non-locksmith!
Re: S&G 826C 1976
Turning the key the correct direction does not unlock it? If not, can't you actuate the locking mechanism from the maintenance slot? Never had one of these in my hands, so surely if those will not work, others will know what to do. Will go research it myself. Maybe I'll find something before the more experienced people here answer.
Good luck,
Gordon

This video may help. From what I see, you should be able to turn the key in the correct direction, then use a screwdriver or something to make sure that locking bar (cam?) is rotated fully in the unlock direction. In the first few seconds of disassembly, you see MrPharmer remove the shackle, remove the maintenance slider, and turn the key back. As he turns the key back, you see the part that needs to be moved (the cam?) back out of the way to unlock the lock.
again, good luck,

Actually the shackle is not meant to come out. When that happens the retaining pin has usually been sheared off by people that dont know better.
Now, what is the problem? Can you not unlock it? Can you not get it back together?

If I were to guess, I'd say when the control "door" fell out, the "locking bar" inside probably slipped up and dis engaged from the lock cylinder, as that cover does keep it in place. and chances are, the lock is at an angle. Just put your finger in where the door fell out, apply slight downward pressure, and turn the key with the control key in both directions, you'll probably feel the locking bar re-engage. then turn it clockwise to open the lock.

Re: S&G 826C 1976
Thank YOU all SO very MUCH! Every comment assisted in the successful unlocking of the partly assembled LOCK 826C; especially keymaster 1053 and the video is spot-on! I used a piece of metal with a 1 inch 90 degree instead of my finger, and used a little patience with a lot of confidence!!!! YOU'ALL ROCK! <Removed>

Happy we could help. You probably want to edit your last post, though, and remove your personal contact info. Just trying to keep you safe.
