crazy keyway lockwood

a mate of mine brought me this lock last time he visited.

haven't picked it yet.
the wards are pretty aggressive- the clearance between the 2nd one up on the right is way too tight for any of the picks i currently have to fit in there.
anybody know what this model is called?

Re: crazy keyway lockwood

It's a lockwood "status six" restricted keyway. The only upside of these is that they are usually master keyed. IF you can get a pick into it at all that may help. Personally these simply are'nt practical to pick, I either bypass, drill or impression them.

would love to hear more on how you bypass these oldlock!
thanks for the info too. are you in australia?- you seem to possess a bit of knowledge on the lockwoods.
pardon my ignorance, but how does master pinning help me pick it? because it makes extra chances to line pins up with shearline is all i can think of...

Re: crazy keyway lockwood

I'm not prepared to discuss the bypass technique - sorry. Yes, master keying increases the numbers of shearlines and vastly reduces the security of the lock. master keying is about convienience not security, many people tend to forget that.

okay. no worries. bypassing is a side of opening locks i haven't explored at all yet.
guess i will have to shim it open somehow and try to figure out how it is bypassable...
