Now that you know how the lock works, I imagine your next lock will be of non-destructive entry. If the pins stay in an elevated position once picked, a key could easily be made on your next lock.

Is there a way to attack that from the side where it rotates, seems like a shim would help keep things picked if worked in through that break between the body and the shackle.
I vaguely remember seeing this type of lock but it could have been only on the internet.

Yes, it can be shimmed also. I found it is just as easy to pick them as to shim them.
