The Unpicked Locks Thread

I want to see your unpicked locks. I have been amassing a nice intimidating pile of confidence-shattering locks that I'd like to share with you all. Some of these are just plain evil or have extremely inconvenient keyways.

Please post pictures and a short summary of why you can't open it!

ASSA Twin 6000 Ruko 3 Shrouded
Thanks macgng for getting this for me. This twin shows some very odd behavior I've never seen before, about 50% of the time the sidepins will completely freeze up even when all tension is released. The other 50% there is one last binding side pin that is biting so hard that its impossible to lift.

ASSA Twin V-10 Moguls
The infamous moguls... these are just crazy. The housing dampens feedback and I have just been unable to open these at all.
up3.jpg

Medeco Biaxial Metrolock
Driverless sidebar lock from Medeco. Got this one from Oldfast and just haven't been able to open it at all despite the very low-cut bitting. The keypins are of the serrated kind with false gates making them a real pain.
up4.jpg

Kaba 8
I can't set more than two or three pins due to the ease of oversetting pins. Its pretty impossible with a short hook or gem. The pins are really crowded inside the keyway oriented all in the top. There are 10 pins, 4 on each side and 2 on the top. The four pins on each side are interlaced (alternating).
up5.jpg

ASSA Twin 6000
More ASSA twins... these two are really fucking evil. I've spent as much as an hour straight on one of them fighting a sidepin that once again bites too hard to be lifted safetly. I've come to accept that some twins just fly open like cheap sluts... and others will never give it up.

BiLock Generation 1
Sent to me by s1deshowmick. I broke the warding off of this while trying to pick it and now I can't tension it so it has sat unpicked for a while now. Really old and grimy inside doesn't do much to help picking attempts.
up7.jpg

ASSA Twin 6000 Ruko 2
Sent to me by chris... another evil, old, wornout twin that won't give up the goods. Another issue of sidepins biting too hard.
up8.jpg

Dorma / Trioving / ASSA
What we have here from left to right:
1. Dorma (sent by falcon)
2. Trioving (model unknown, sent by falcon)
3. ASSA (model unknown, sent by mister_sour)
4. ASSA 700 (sent by Ashman02 of youtube)

The middle two locks are the exact same locking mechanism and similar keyway. There are 6 top pins with countermilling, and sliders controlling a sidebar. The sliders are a nightmare, way worse than the Scorpion. The sliders aren't spring-loaded and will not drop back down when tension is dropped making it a huge PITA. The Trioving has 10 sliders, and the ASSA has 4.

The Dorma has an incredibly evil keyway with spooled keypins. I haven't quite found a pick that will fit in it yet.

The ASSA 700 is probably the most aggrivating lock I've ever encountered. It just won't open. I know exactly whats happening, I'm lifting a spooled keypin too high early on the picking process and its sitting at the shearline giving false sets and never letting the plug turn. I think theres a maximum depth cut in there. It feels like multiple pins will bind at once, and its pretty hard to differentiate between lifting a keypin through the shearline and setting a normal driver. Maybe one day...

Vingcard 7-Pin Super Long Mortise
Sent by falcon. Another extremely evil keyway/bitting combo combined with :angspool: make this lots of fun (or not). It looks like this lock has some kind of blockout feature.
up11.jpg

Picture 234.jpg

ASSA 600 Euro
This lock goes into the what is probably the biggest false set I've ever seen and freezes up completly. I'm guessing it has very deep countermilling. I've tried picking this lock all different ways possible on both sides and both directions with no luck. Its quite possible I'm not lifting that last pin high enough. The keyway is NOT fun.
up13.jpg

"Drunken Spools"
FarmerFreak made this lock. I can't even begin to describe the hatred I have for it. He added a second false shearline in the plug and used double stacked schlage T-pins that give wicked false sets. Maybe one day. We all hate you FF! :P

@xeo: You should send some of your unpicked locks to other pickers. For example me :-D Would love to give it a try.

You're going to hate me even more.. That one doesn't have the second false shear line in it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzIJlNYPuso. Would you like one with the false shear line as well?

Speaking of false shear line and drunken spools. I have yet to pick one.
Image

12 pin american. I can pick the first half no problem, but then the front half rotates just enough that it binds the pick when entering the second half. So I milled down another key to fit into the bottom and hold the plugs aligned. But that only helped so much..
Image

Modified Corbin master ring. It's a commit the combination then authenticate system. The very thought of trying to pick it blind, is, well...
Image

Couldn't pick this one either. The last three pins need to be set last, but the first two (one comes in from the side) block off almost the entire keyway.
Image

I do not believe I ever picked this one either. Toolymcgee did pick it.
Image
Image

I don't have pictures of the other locks I haven't been able to pick. The locks either aren't here, or I don't know where they are at the moment.

Various Assa Twins.
Various Medeco camlocks.

I have two Vingcard 7-pin locks (like xeo's, except different color), one of them I can pick and the other one I can't because of the nasty combination and nasty keyway.

I know there are more, but I can't think of them right now.

And xeo, you need to make a custom tension wrench (ground down allen wrench?) for the bilock. There isn't a good reason for that one to be on your list.

Yes it's custom.. And pure evil.

Oh, and to add to the list. There is a Best cylinder at work that I haven't been able to pick. I've probably dumped 3 hours into it too, which is a lot for anything other than Assa.
