How many of those have you picked?

Re: Got some new locks!

 I have picked maybe half of them, 3 Americans (I have not yet gotten a good feel for them), 3 of the Madecos, most of the easier locks. I have not picked any leverlocks, Kaba (4 rows of pins on one side of keyway makes it impossible to get a pick in there), Chubb, Multilock ( do I have to pick the thingy at the bottom of keyway too?)...
These will keep me busy this summer!

On the MT5 the little springy thing on the end of the key engages a tiny little button at the end of the key way. It does have to be pushed down. With my MT5, it generally binds right away after you add tension. Otherwise you can pick some pins, then try pushing it down. You will need a rather small pointed tip though since that button isn't very large.

See those kids standing by the lake...drop some napalm and watch them bake.

Re: Got some new locks!

Mate, can you tell me what the small locks are in the bottom right hand corner of the picture?
I bought a box of old locks and keys from a boot sale a few years ago and there were a load of these locks in it, but they look very old! I was never quite sure what they were actually for.

Re: Got some new locks!

Nice collection Wizer

Hi rosindubh37713, I think those small locks were used to lockout the original lever or warded key from a lock. You shove the small lock in the keyhole, then turn the key and it's stuck in place, preventing the original and bigger key to open the lock. When you want you can remove it, making the old key usable again.

Cheers :)
