Angled Picks

Before I try to make some of these... I want to know if anyone has tried similar pick designs using various angled cuts like this:

#1 looks like a deforest/offset diamond but it is not, the end is flat. #1 is the same concept as #2 with a differing angle. The idea behind #3 being a low angle for inserting past deep cut pins and manipulating pins in the back of the lock.

The code is hidden in the tumblers. One position opens the lock, another position opens one of these doors...

Re: Angled Picks

the long slope of the pick tips will manipulate more pins thanjust the one you are attacking... it will work but not quite what you are expecthing, that 45 will probably onlyu manipulate 1 pin at a time...

try it and let us know ;)

Re: Angled Picks

Majestic makes a pick very similar to that second one, it's a bit iffy to use but it's quite good when you get used to it. I prefer a normal long hook though.

Re: Angled Picks

I'd love to see #3 in action. Maybe with a divot in the tip so it can latch on to pins easily. #2 looks cool but I think it'd snap too easily.
Howdy!

Jruther made me a offset hook pick with a divot in the tip, works very well to feel the angles of the pins, and rotating.
Naaapaalm...sticks to kids...it sticks to the belly and it sticks to the ribs...
See those kids standing by the lake...drop some napalm and watch them bake.

Re: Angled Picks

Southord has a nice bent half-diamond that is great for lifting rear pins.

Re: Angled Picks

I have a broken off set diamond by southord that works great and looks just like the first pick in the list. I like it anyway

Re: Angled Picks

The 45 degree angle does not need to have a sharp internal angle and this can be rounded with an eighth inch chainsaw file without affecting the design.
by that I mean that you just cut the round inner angle then use flat files to reach it.
the others are just deforest and somewhat like falles deep curves.
