Mike, a few pictures to get you drooling while you wait for the mail. I sent yours off today. ;)

S&G 6536 offset drive group 2 vault lock that I made a temporary mount for earlier today. I am waiting to get an acrylic one made up but I couldn't wait to play so I burned a bit of spare time in the shed...

It has 4 wheels that get quite stiff to turn plus 3 gears that make things a bit different. I am quite curious as to how well things go. I believe the group 2M has a roller on the nose of the fence instead of being solid.

So very kind of you! I'm VERY excited and can't thank you enough.

I hope so :D This lock will bring a a couple of 'firsts' for me.
I've never been 4-wheelin' - nor have I ever experienced an
external gear drive like that.

TOO COOL Eric!! Too cool :yep:

You see that gear with the spindle to the right of the lock body? And how the dial is off to the side of the mount? The dial drives that gear which drives another gear which drives a gear attached to the piece of spindle that actually moves the wheels etc.

Whoa, that's pretty sick! That'd be an adventure to manipulate

Even better/worse is that it has a +/- 0.5-0.75 tolerance to each side ;)

Oh, and that side spindle has a cover as well but since this is a temporary mount I didnt want to cut the spindle really short so I left it long and cant put the cover on atm.

You would have to think if the gears add that much wiggle room then the gate sizes are increased accordingly. And just like AWR or AWL you can adjust your results depending on which way you are spinning the dial and gears.

That's all from this know-it-all backseat driver. I talk a tough game until you put the lock in front of me.
I'll be waiting for the story of your successful opening. Good luck!

The gears actually mesh quite tightly so there is not a lot of play in them.

Beautiful lock....I'd love to kill a few hours with that thing.

Mike, you're going to have to post the adventure once you get this thing and manipulate it. The rest of us are living vicariously through you on this one!

Beautiful Lock.

I hope you have as much fun with it as the Best core that you sent me.

One question. It does not appear to have a re-locker for removal of the back cover - or am I missing it?

Good score. :hbg:

As far as I know it does not have a back cover relocker on it.
