Sentry Safe

Finally got this from my co-worker.
I'm unsure the model number, all I can say is that it clicks every turn or the dial. Any opening methods? Obviously, of the manipulation variety?

Re: Sentry Safe

Just opened one of these last week.

You may hate me for saying it, but, Brute force. It's very easy with these safes.

Edit: by that, I mean Trying every possible gate position on all wheels.

Re: Sentry Safe

That link is busted - the page is just code.
As for brute force - feel every sticky spot and try them all?

You may find this helpful, I wrote this earlier. The same principle works on Sentry's

Re: Sentry Safe

The link worked for me.

If it is the same model it says "3-number combination lock with clicking dial and tubular key lock"

The pic. of the safe showed the key just below the handle, next to the dial.

The pic. of your safe does not show the key way so it is probably a different model. Still maybe worth a look for a key way.

Try the link again http://www.sentrysafe.com/Products/238/DS3431_Combination_FIRE-SAFE_

Re: Sentry Safe

UnlockD, use the method that Altashot laid out in his tutorial. It's very good by the way! Just attach your wire to the handle, the extra length will amplify the changes. Of course your "graph" will be on the side. Start dialing and good luck!

Toronto,

Can you expand a bit? My daughter has this exact safe that she lost the combination for. Sentry will send you the combination if you have the serial number and other information, which she thinks she has, but I'd like to try to get into it. I am just getting started with manipulation, and by just getting started I mean that my locks haven't even arrived yet so I haven't even spun a dial except on padlocks. I'd like to play with this one, but the clicking every increment of the dial might pose a problem, and if I understand my reading so far, this is a direct entry safe. So do you mean trying all possible combinations at 2.5 increments? Or is there something about these safes that I don't know, like increments of 5 are close enough?

If you've got time, I'd appreciate it if you could explain a bit further.

Thanks!

Re: Sentry Safe

I too am curious about the tolerance in these newer ones.

On an old Sentry 1250, I found the gates to be 6, even 7 incs wide.... allowing me to dial in incs of 5.
I also found it was quite easy to catch the gate for w3 on this one, leaving only w1 & 2 to brute force.

Do these newer models have any less slop to them?
Is it still just as easy to catch the gate on w3 for these?

Re: Sentry Safe

Hey Guys,

I'll post another thread later but I'm so stoked right now I had to post SOMETHING....

My daughters Sentry safe, and my first attempt at safes....OPEN!!!!

It took way longer than it should have, and it had some interesting challenges that I had to figure out, but there was nothing like the feeling when I turned that handle and the safe OPENED!!! All of the techniques are from this site.

I had to tell SOMEONE!!! Full details in another post later but I've got to run now.

STOKED!!!

Re: Sentry Safe

Great work!!! It should take a while the first time. If it doesn't, it makes the rest of us look bad. Then MrAnybody will withhold muffin recipes until we prove ourselves worthy again. ;)

Until you get used to the techniques involved, it takes a while. But you will get faster. Keep up the great work. :-D

Good job!
No matter how long it took, you were successful!

Re: Sentry Safe

Thanks Guys! I just posted a description of how I did it. There may be better ways, but I posted what worked for me.

Thanks again!
