Re: S&G 8088

If I understand correctly, the 8077 is virtually identical to the 8088, but has a chrome sleeve around it, making radiological attacks more difficult. The chrome reflects the xrays partially, causing glare on the image. (not sure where I read it!)

Escher7: thanks for the video, that is one I hadn't seen before, I've reviewed a lot of information I have found so far, but any additional information is always welcome!

I've had a tip through PM that I am not going to repeat here, unless it turns out to be successful!
Thanks everyone for adding to this thread, I really like this lock, it is a beautifully designed piece of engineering!

Re: S&G 8088

Didn't mean to drag up that other crap, it just pee'd me off because I am so careful not to offend. My choice not to go there anymore. (In fact I will remove the comment.)

At that video site there is another video, in Russian?? that seems to show a guy shimming an 8088 through the button on the back, although he doesn't actually open the lock. He also picks away at a snap ring where the shackle goes into the lock. If someone speaks the language I would love to know what he is saying.

And here is a guy unboxing an 8077 which shows the combo change key.

Re: S&G 8088

Actually the factory combination for these locks is 25-0. You turn the dial 4 times, stop on 25, then turn the dial to 0 and pull it open.

Here is a pdf of the instructions for the 8077 which is basically the same internally as the 8088.

[EDIT: Elbow] It is a violation of the site rules to bash other lockpicking sites. Also, I know most of the staff at that site and you were not banned (temporarily banned at that) for merely inquiring about skirting the rules regarding access to their advanced forums. In fact, you were temporarily banned for the manner in which you chose to conduct yourself in a conversation with one of the staff members in regards to their declining your request for early access (which is something they don't do for anyone, not even long time professional locksmiths.) As this rule violation is one of several in this thread alone, I am adding a warning notice to your account in relation to these violations. Please in the future be mindful of the rules or you will find yourself banned here as well, although I would prefer not to have to go to such extremes. Thanks. - Elbow

Time to move on folks. It seems this site and LP 101 are joined at the hip. For the record, I was very polite to Squelchtone at LP 101 but he choose to treat me rudely. I did not argue with his decision, nor did I swear or otherwise do anything to justify his ban, however long. Elbow, however, has chosen to accept his word without asking for my version and that kind of unfairness is unacceptable to me. Take Care. Good bunch of guys.

I have both locks new in box, the 8077AD is 25-25-25-0 and the 8088 is 10-20-30-0. They may have had some variations however so try both.

Actually for the 8077s, it is just 25-0. You dont need to dial it 3 times.

Follow-up? Any luck?

I may have to get my grubby hands one of them, looks like too much fun to pass up!

Re: S&G 8088

No update yet... so far I haven't been able to learn anything from interacting with it. :(

I'm inclined to take it apart and learn more about the inner workings, maybe that will yield some information. For now, I am focusing on other projects..
