First field safe opening

So I just did my first safe opening without the possibility of finding a combo. It was an electronic safe and we happen to have one in our shop. So I took the one at our shop apart and took measurements of where the solenoid was at. It was a little anti-climactic that it only took a couple of minutes and a coat hangar to open this particular safe.

Hi,
Was drilling a hole part of the process or just slipping coat hanger around the edge of the door? Any possibility of pressing the reset combo button inside the door?

No drilling necessary. The reset was not a possibility and the solenoid was very easy to access. It took about 30 seconds. With the face plate moved I went right through the front of the door.

Marc Tobias has some vids of opening some cheap ass Sentry and other big box brand safes really easily. One he just turned upside down to open! I wouldn't trust any of the cheap stuff for more than fire protection, and even then I'd be careful.

Great stuff Matt!
There's some simple bypasses for particular safes... none of which I know.
Really just comes down to knowledge and experience I guess.

Thank you PhoneMan. Funny, I've been subbed for some time, but obvioulsy have not watched all his vids. lol
So I just watched a few of the Stack-On analysis vids: Very interesting, educational, AND disturbing all at once.

I do the same thing. Subscribe to someone and realize there's still vids I haven't seen.
It is disturbing how easy those suckers can be opened. I wouldn't trust the cheapo electronic locks for more than a novelty to play with or to keep nosey people out. Definitely worth spending the extra cash for a good quality fire/burglary safe from a reputable dealer.

No I didn't take pics. It was a Bull model 20. Not the best built safe.
